Greater Regional Health will be sponsoring Bike Safety Injury Preventions project in conjunction with Kid’s Day at the Union County Fair. Kid’s Day will be July 23rd for a day full of fun and learning for the kids of Union County from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m.! GRH Emergency Department volunteers at Bike Safety Injury Prevention project will be providing and fitting bike helmets for children and their families to engage in injury prevention, safety, and resource opportunities for keeping children safely active.
Providing bicycle helmets for children in the Union County area is in support of social determinants of health goals, like educational opportunities to share injury prevention resources, bike safety, and providing safety equipment for the community.
In planning and preparing for Bike Safety Injury Prevention project our Director of Public Health, Zach Woods, worked with a shared decision team for Creston that assisted him in sourcing the funds that were needed in order to be able to supply bike helmets to the children and families of Union County. The Creston and Leon Community Partnerships for Protecting Children (CPPC) Initiatives are located in multiple counties and provide what available funding they have to support local events or programs that benefit children and families ages 0-18 years of age meeting at least one of their four strategies and serves an identified target population.
