What is a women’s health center and does Greater Regional have one?
Greater Regional Health is proud to support women in their healthcare journey from adolescent health to senior health. That is why we are excited to tell you more about our Greater Regional Women’s Health Center and all we have to offer, and why it does not necessarily mean a geographical location of services.
Women’s health starts with having youth take full advantage of the well child checks that offer guidance for a healthy lifestyle through 18 years of age. From pediatrician Dr. Cheri Standing to family medicine providers like Dr. James Gerdes or Dr. Lonny Miller, we can help you find the perfect provider for your child.
An important aspect of women’s health care is the availability of OB/GYN services. Greater Regional Health understands the importance of choice and personal preference when it comes to select your care. We have many choices for your obstetric needs: Dr. Kristin Bolinger, Dr. Karen Krogstad, Jill Breach provide comprehensive family medicine; while Dr. Donna Bennett and our new provider Dr. Charles Cunningham, are specialized in gynecological services as well as obstetrics. Look for the next newsletter for Dr. Cunningham to tell us more about his practice and what services he will be able to offer his patients.
The Greater Regional Birthing Center has been busy so far in 2020 delivering babies for southwest Iowa! The birthing center is a key role in women’s health, and we have done some additional updates throughout the year and one we are most excited for will be complete at the end of September! We will share the announcement showcasing the birthing center with a virtual tour in early October to highlight more important people and services that are involved in keeping the overall health of a women!
Internal medicine at Greater Regional has expanded most recently as well. Dr. Steven Reeves, Dr. Matthew Checketts, and Dr. Adrianna Shuey are dedicated physicians that specialize in care for the senior health of our area. Alongside Crystal Johnson, ARNP who is working dual roles in internal medicine and urology to meet the needs of women after the childbearing period of their lives.
As you can see it is hard to define what a women’s health center should physically look like, however Greater Regional Health centers the importance of women’s health for Southwest Iowa.
