Pregnancy & Birth
What is Obstetrics?
Obstetrics deals with the care of pregnant women, the unborn baby, labor and delivery and the immediate period following childbirth. The obstetric provider ensures that mother and child get the best prenatal care to ensure labor and delivery is accomplished without complications and that should intervention be needed, it is done quickly and safely.
The medical specialty of obstetrics has made pregnancy and childbirth a life changing event to be embraced with confidence knowing that modern medicine has made the process safe and predictable.

Pregnancy & Birth at Greater Regional Health
Finding out you are pregnant can be an exciting but nerve-wracking time. Our providers are here to help you every step of the way.
Greater Regional offers a variety of options when it comes to obstetric services. Patients may choose from ob-gyn, family medicine, or midwife services for their pregnancy and birth journey.
We provide obstetric care from preconception counseling and infertility services, through delivery, and into the postpartum period.
Our obstetric providers will ensure both mother and baby are safely guided through all phases of pregnancy and childbirth. Whether the baby is delivered vaginally or through a planned or emergency caesarian section, our providers are trained to handle any change that is presented during the natural, but sometimes complex process of childbirth. If a C-section is needed, our Surgery Center is down the hall from the Birthing Center.
We offer prenatal classes, breastfeeding resources and individual teaching to help you and your baby get the best start possible.
Following delivery, we focus on the health of the mother and child, ensuring that both make the transition into routine daily life.
