The Senior Housing Insurance Information Program (SHIIP) office will be relocating to the Highway Medical building, 803 Wyoming Avenue this month. The move to Highway Medical will allow for a larger office space and more convenience for patients.
How can I benefit from meeting with a SHIIP volunteer?
SHIIP is a free, objective information service provided by peer volunteers trained by the Iowa Department of Insurance. SHIIP volunteers are trained to assist patients, families and staff in:
Understanding Medicare benefits
Organizing medical bills, Medicare statements, and filling Medicare claims
Providing information on long-term care insurance polices
Comparing and evaluating Medicare supplement polices & drug plans
Recognizing Medicare fraud and abuse
For information about SHIIP or to make an appointment, contact the SHIIP helpline at 641-782-3848.
Want to become a SHIIP volunteer?
Trained volunteers assist thousands of Iowans each year to understand their Medicare benefits and options through individual counseling sessions, community education, and special projects. Becoming a SHIIP volunteer is a great way to give back to the community and help patients understand Medicare.
If you are interested in becoming a SHIIP volunteer, contact Jordan Crawford at 641-782-3553.
