When people think of Iowa, a few things come to mind: agriculture, rural communities, and of course, our unforgettable county fairs. Greater Regional Health invites you to circle your calendars for one of the highlights of the summer: the 2025 Union County Fair, happening from July 17th to 23rd at the Union County Fairgrounds in the city of Afton.

2024 Fairgoers having some fun!

This beloved event showcases everything we love about our community, from local exhibitions put on by dedicated 4-H and FFA members, high-energy animal judging, to fun-for-all-ages activities like mud volleyball and exciting grandstand events such as the demolition derby and rodeos. Not to mention all the delicious food the fairgrounds have to offer. (Yes, we’re talking about fresh funnel cakes and ribeye sandwiches!)

The Union County Fair is proudly organized by local residents and businesses who come together to create a memorable experience for our community. Greater Regional Health is honored to be part of this cherished tradition, and we love connecting with our neighbors throughout the week. One of our favorite days is Kid’s Day, hosted by Greater Regional. It’s all about celebrating our youngest fairgoers with a full lineup of engaging, educational, and fun activities.

Kids can get creative at our arts and crafts stations, such as cookie decorating and open crafting tables. But we don’t stop there. We also partner with local organizations and clubs to provide hands-on learning experiences that introduce children to new ideas, hobbies, and opportunities like the Afton Garden Club!

Of course, we also keep energy high with plenty of physical fun. From tractor pulls and hay bale tossing to splash-filled water games, there’s something for every child to enjoy while staying active and enjoying the outdoors.

These are just a few of the exciting activities we have planned for Kid’s Day on Saturday, July 19th. Check out the full schedule below and make plans to bring the whole family. To learn more about the fair, including updates and ticket information, visit the official site: https://www.unioncountyfairgrounds.com. Don’t forget to come visit our GRH vendor booth. We can’t wait to see you there with cotton candy in hand and cowboy boots on your feet!
